Organization for Instruction Each elementary school is divided into three sections for instruction, and teachers at each grade are responsible for working together for the instruction of all students at that particular level. Team leaders are responsible for the planning and instructional performance of each team, and the building principal is responsible for the overall operation of the teams.
The Primary Team consists of grades kindergarten and first; the Intermediate Team, grades two and three, and the Upper Team, grades four and five. To meet the individual needs of each child, grouping for instructional purposes is flexible so that provisions can be made for the needs of the slow learner, the underachiever, and the gifted.
Specialists in music, art, and physical education work closely with all teams. The media center also serves as a vital coordinating center of the learning process and provides written, visual, and audio media for student use.
Kennett Middle School opened its doors this last year to more than 900 students in grades six, seven and eight. It is a state-of-the art building especially in terms of technology. Kennett Middle School has three full computer labs with iMac’s and a laptop lab of Apple iBooks, computer simulation labs for Industrial Arts and Family & Consumer Science, and a full computer lab in the Art department with an emphasis on drawing, painting and using software programs to enhance the students’ art work. Instructional activities are organized by grade level and the Team Leaders work closely with the building principal to meet the individual needs of the adolescent learner.
Kennett High School serves a diverse population of 1,100 students in grades 9-12. Demonstrating a commitment to progressive education through a rigorous, well-rounded program of academics, athletics and student activities, over 80% of Kennett graduates go on to higher education. The high school underwent extensive renovations directed to its goals for students of the 21st century.
